Four Teams Return For ARCH’s Upcoming Local Season

To our wonderful fans of Arch Rival Roller Derby!

We are looking forward to another great local season of flat-track action that returns to Midwest Sport Hockey on Saturday, December 15.

And with the new campaign that lies ahead, a return to something familiar is on the horizon.

For the first time since 2014, ARCH returns to a “four local team format.” Alongside the defending champion Stunts Devils, the Smashinistas and the M-80s, prior local collective Rebel Skate Alliance re-joins the line-up.

As a result, local Arch Rival events return to a nightly format that features a pair of ARCH games. This begins with the December 15 event as the Stunts face the Smashies in the opening contest while the M-80s meet RSA in the nightcap.

In this time of transition, we would like to offer our eternal appreciation to our “siblings,” GateKeepers Roller Derby, for their co-operation in co-hosting events alongside us the past four seasons. We’ll continue to support them and be involved with them at future co-promotions, on and off-track. We also look forward to seeing them compete and win another MRDA title in October!

ARCH decided to expand back to the four-team format due to the increase in skaters, whether they were returning veterans, transfers from other area Leagues or newer additions from our rookie line-up. Regardless of tenure, we wanted to give everyone participating in the sport the maximum number of opportunities to compete and develop.

We wanted to be fair to all teams this season with the re-addition of a former franchise. As a result, the entire League will hold a re-draft of returning skaters that competed during 2017-18 season on Thursday, September 20 as overseen by ARCH’s Coaching Committee. This will guarantee equal distribution of skill sets to all four teams.

Results from the re-draft will be revealed via the League’s official Twitter feed Thursday beginning at 8:15 p.m.

Immediately following the reveal on Twitter, the four groups will receive their team name via a multi-layered (AND FUN!) random draw.

Live coverage of this event will be seen LIVE on ARCH’s official Facebook page beginning at 8:20 p.m.

On Thursday, September 27, skaters newly eligible to be drafted to the League for the upcoming season (non-rostered players, rookies, transfers and returning alumni) will be selected to complete each team’s charter.

Results from the supplemental draft will be revealed as players are selected via the League’s official Twitter feed and a “Draft Special” will be featured afterwards on You Tube.

The four teams will compete, round-robin style, in a six-event regular season and on Saturday, April 28, 2019, the League’s Championship and Third-Place games will be held.

With increased activity, there will be a slight increase in admission on game nights. Adult general admission tickets will increase to $15 at the door. This was the same cost when the League last fielded four local teams during their 2013-14 season.

However, there are some savings to be found for our fans. Since all four teams will be playing nightly, we will be offering reduced-priced season ticket packages and individual and group discounts with tickets purchased in advance online through Brown Paper Tickets.

There will also be lower ticket prices for students (middle school, junior high, high school and collegiate) with ID at the door at Midwest Sport Hockey. And as always, children 10 and under receive complementary admission.

We’ll reveal the complete 2018-19 calendar very shortly so you can start marking your calendars, starting with the home-opener on December 15!

It’ll be quite a wonderful journey this season as RSA, who won the League title in 2011, makes an intergalactic attack back on the flat-track while the other three teams try to continue their championship legacies!
